Alex Drinnan
M2

Alex Drinnan is a second year at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine who served as President of UCCOM Pride from 2019 to 2020. He is originally from the Bay Area and his interests include musical theatre, practicing Spanish, and working with kids. Prior to medical school, Alex served a year as an AmeriCorps member in East Harlem, New York City, tutoring 4th graders in English, Math, and social/emotional skills. He then earned his Master’s in Physiology at the University of Cincinnati. Alex has enjoyed being a part of UCCOM Pride and is grateful to have had the opportunity to work with passionate physicians who specialize in subjects ranging from transgender health to HIV/AIDS management, who have dedicated their time toward teaching medical students how to deliver compassionate care.

Mike Peschka
M1

Mike Peschka is a first-year student at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. A native of Chicago, he spent his teenage years living in Scotland, but now calls Cincinnati home. He is a non-traditional student, leaving behind a software development career at age 38 to pursue his passion for medicine. His interests include karaoke, cooking, and woodworking, and he still maintains a connection to his IT background by serving as the technology officer for the UC Student Run Free Clinic. In his first year at UCCOM, Mike has also been working with his learning community on a service learning project focused on transgender health, learning more about the challenges facing the trans community and finding opportunities to better serve those who need it most.
